Nashville Ballet has
a longstanding affiliation with some of the finest choreographers today.
Our repertory includes works by distinguished legends George Balanchine,
José Limon, Salvatore Aiello, James Canfield and Choo-San Goh, as well
as choreography by our internationally recognized Artistic Director Paul
Vasterling. By providing a multitude of activities with our Season
Repertory, Outreach Programs, School of Nashville Ballet offerings and
choreography project Emergence, we continue to demonstrate our
significance in the community. We believe that by creating, performing
and promoting dance, in addition to providing educational and outreach
programs, we will enrich our community and enhance the quality of life
in Nashville, as well as further the evolution of American dance.
Founded in 1981 as a
civic dance company and becoming a professional company in 1986,
Nashville Ballet is the only professional ballet company in Middle
Tennessee, and has earned the respect of audiences and reviewers alike
by making classical and contemporary ballet accessible to new and
traditional audiences. In addition to owning our own studios and
offices, Nashville Ballet opened a second campus of The School of
Nashville Ballet in August 2005 in Brentwood, Tennessee, increasing both
hours and classes offered. Our comprehensive educational outreach
program Learning Curves continues to expand, exposing over 30,000
children and adults in 11 Middle Tennessee counties to the art of ballet
through our Children's Ballets, interactive performances and numerous
collaborations with local nonprofits and schools such as the Nashville
Public Library System, Head Start, Vanderbilt University, Belmont
University, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and Nashville Symphony.
